Winter Solstice Burn 2002
The Second Annual (-11) Winter Solstice Burn will happen! --it was looking a little iffy there for a while-- December 20 – 23, 2002, mark the date now!
So get ready, round up all of the warmest clothes you own, maybe get a few more, and plan on spending a chillingly great time burning everything within reach to stay warm, but don’t burn your friends--if they don’t want you to.
The logistics: This is a 100% self-reliant event. If you want to be warm, bring several layers of warm clothes. If you get chilly easily, bring some propane heaters. There is no water available to drink, there is no food provided (but potlucks are encouraged), there are no sleeping arrangements provided (unless there are so few of us that we all cram into the community building and snuggle together to keep warm). Campers and RV's are welcome.
Also bring your cross-country skis, snowshoes, beach volleyabll sets, and whatever else will add to your outdoor enjoyment. DR is covered with trails great for exploring.
Last year, we held this event at Twin Rivers, WI and had a wonderful time. We all stayed warmer than we thought we would and had a blast. This year, were pushing the limits a little further, moving up North where it may be a little colder, and planning to have even more fun than before.
Location: Deeply Rooted, which is near Athens, WI. This is central Wisconsin folks, and it’s wintertime, so be prepared for the cold. Maybe prepare for colder than cold if you’re not familiar with winter camping.
Donation: $20 to help support Deeply Rooted and it gives you an annual membership to boot. Payment can be made through paypal or mail (pay before you arrive please).

I plan to drive from Maryland just to be with these wonderful people. Last year we had people from 3 or 4 different states, I hope they return again. If your coming from teh east coast area and looking to carpool, let me know.
