Winter Solstice Burn 2003
from BobbbyG:
Hail Eris,
yup it's time to post the announce for the 3rd Winter Solstice Burn in Wisconsin...
Winter Solstice Burn III, or Year -10 on the Long Countdown to 12/21/2012*
Point Beach State Forest
Two Rivers, WI
Friday, 12/19/03 thru Sunday 12/21/03
Indoor Group Camp.
Two large wood-heated cabins plus any other camping vehicle/shelter you wish to bring.
bring camping stuff, Nordic skis or mountain bikes, art, costumes, huge amounts of food, drink, whatever pleases your senses... we have the whole group site, 1/2 mile off the local county road, in a 7,000 acre forest on Lake Michigan beach (it's a beach burn!).
this year's theme: "Amanitas!" -- celebrating the millenia-old relationship of humans with this important mushroom. look for some sort of sculptural resemblances to the beautiful little Amanita muscarias... as with all burns, you may participate in this theme, or simply ignore it and express yourself your own way.
cost is $25 for 2 nites ($40 for couples--hey, be creative on that); $15 for one nite. cost does include State Park overnite vehicle stickers so this ain't a money-maker.
we will provide locally-sourced firewood. otherwise, pack it in, pack it out, leave no trace. no electrics. no running water. there is a pump. outdoor privy-type toilets on site.
very close-by motel option available for those adverse to the disturbingly overcrowded and noisy conditions (Black Rock CIty simulation) of the cabins... celebrate with us and sleep in peace if you must...

all hail, Discordia!

*countdown to the end date on the Mayan Calendar, 12/21/2012, a date on which absolutely *nothing* anomalous will happen, except for, hopefully by then, a globally-linked series of local solstice celebrations encompassing a tidal wave of good vibes (or something like that). it's the start of a new round on the Mayan Calendar, you've heard...
From Me:
Winter Solstice Burn 2002 was great, as was 2001. I plan to go again this year.
