Adult Bipolar Disorders: Understanding Your Diagnosis and Getting Help, a book written by Mitzi Waltz.

This is a very easy to read, the information is presented in simple terms, short, general descriptions. It explores the source of bipolar disorder in a non-scientifically-threatening way. Alternative diagnosis are explored along with suggestion on how to get the help you need from your doctor.

This book takes a realistic approach to treatment and medicines. INstead of just listing the medications and their side effects, it discusses that they are often not effective for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons if due to failure to take the medicine. Waltz seems to understand the real person's response to this disorder and it's treatment instead of just throwing out the scientific about everything.

Even with it's simple descriptions and summaries, this book does a good job of providing several treatment options for considerations. Alternative or more "natural" treatment methods are also discussed and explored.

For someone looking for more holistic treatment options, this book gives a good overview of several possibilities out there. Also good resource for people needing a little more help in getting the disease under control and how they can adjust their daily life patterns to promote better mental health.
