Speed Dating
Idea thrown out in the mix of the Costco Matchmaker Service discussion:
So I was watching Discovery channel last night and they had a show on about sex and relationships and there was some pretty cool stuff I thought we could bring into this whole Costco theme...
One thing they did was get a room full of men and women together and did what they called "speed dating". There was an even number of men and women and what they did was everyone went on 7 dates that night, each dated lasted 8 minutes. As they were going, they jotted down notes as to whether they would date that person again or not, the ones that would date each other again hooked up for a real date later.
They also did this cool thing where they had a man and a woman that didn't know each other sit in a room. While sitting in the room, they had to each explain their life story within 4 minutes with some personal disclosure, followed by 3 minutes of silence with eye contact only. When finished, the 2 people felt as close to the other as they did to some of their best friends.
Another thing we could do is also start taking
suggestions as to what questions should be included in
the questionnaire from everyone. I'll throw my hat in
the ring here with the following suggestion:
At this event are you looking for:
a. a one night stand
b. a new friend
c. a dating situation that will continue afterwards
d. a soulmate
I like this question because it puts people on the same page as far as who's looking for what..." --- Sean posted on baltwash-burning November 6, 2001.
