nail biting

written by k. suzanne henderson

For the majority of my life, I have been one of those terrible people: a nail biter, a case of oral fixation gone wrong. To curb this nasty habit my mom tried everything: rewards, punishments, sour nail polish, jalapeno peppers. Nothing would stop the absentminded gnawing. I discovered that fake nails would help for a week, but as soon as the newness wore off, I would chew those off.

I finally found the perfect solution: a tongue ring. Ever since October 29, 2001, when I got my tongue pierced, I haven't bit my nails. Now they are long and healthy and very popular when it comes to dishing out back scratches.

Well the tongue ring worked for about a year or so. But I eventually started biting my nails again. And then, I got my lip pierced, vertical labrete piercing, and that has me nail biting free yet again.

So, the real solution: oral piercing, when the affect of one wears out, time to get another one. ;)
